Update: Post PCC

Hey Billie Backers.
We're post PCC (Planet Comicon) in Kansas City and we're ready for a May filled with... SHIPPING! No conventions for us this month as we want to focus on getting this out to you.
We ran into a few of you awesome people at the show and were able to chat about the project. Thanks to those that could make it over to PCC for stopping by, saying hello, and telling us what you like about our books.
We were invited to participate in the Kickstarting or Self Funding panel at the show and we must say it was a huge success. What an awesome group of creators, both local to KC and national, that spoke about the challenges, successes, and tricks to kickstarting a comic.
We also had some queries into what was going on from some of our visitors though. So here's your update:
The printer still has all our books. We got a sample run of 25 to see what the product would look like, but the big order is still in production, near the end. We're being printed, or at this point are printed, but they still have to package up ship a 1000 books to us.
As soon as those get here (looking 1-3 weeks depending on customs) we're having a packing party. Any of you in Denver are welcome to attend (just kidding, we won't make you work). But I will have friends over helping package up your comic and all your awesome stretch perks that are all now here.
Since we went through BackerKit I'm expecting the shipping to workout much easier. Since we can order it online through them we should have packages going out nightly as soon as we start packaging everything up. So the turn around time on our end will be fast.
Not related to the timeline...
We heard back from some of you that checked out the digital copy and just want to say thank you for the awesome feedback. There were some constructive feedback along with plenty of praise. It seems as if most of you really enjoy the book. Because of that, while we get this ready to ship, our editor is working on volume two's script so we can produce it for you sometime this year along with our other exciting Project-Nerd Publishing projects.
Thank you all again for the support, and I will have an update for you with pictures of all the stacks of boxes once the books arrive.

She's Finished!

Hey Backers,
I told you that by the end of this week you'd either get a panicked message from me trying to finish the book on a convention weekend or a happy message to let you know Billie is complete.
Great news...
Billie is finished!
Thank you so much to all the hard work from Zack Rezendes, Michaela Patton, Geoff Decker, and the many others that contributed.
And a massive, massive thank you to all of you for supporting us!
So what now?
We have DINK (Denver Indy Comic & Art Expo) this weekend, but as soon as that's wrapped we'll prep the file for digital upload and get you all your digital copy next week. That's right... you'll be reading Billie next week!
Unless you want to wait for the physical copy to read. In that case we need the printer to wrap it up (about three weeks until it gets back to us) and then we'll have a packing party to get your comic and perks all out to you. So early May is when to expect the physical copies and goodies to show up at your door.
For those we'll see at Planet Comicon (April 28-30), we don't know if we'll have copies that weekend. The goal is to get them just in time, but again that all comes down to the printer wrapping in two weeks and not three. We'll keep you posted.
Rejoice Billie Backers. Our heroes are ready to ride!

All Quiet on the Western Front

Hi Billie Backers!
It's been a short while since our last update, and with good reason. We're working hard.
Great news is the pages are complete with Zack and Michaela just going back through and fixing a few pages to make sure they are perfect for you! That means we're on our last stages, lettering and editing.
Lettering? Yeah, we have to put all the captions, speech bubbles, and even those fun words in the book like in this pic here:
Editing? Well if you've read my status updates here you probably know an editor is needed to make sure grammar and spelling is as it should be. After all, you want a good read.
Great thing about those two items is we can do them at the same time. I can letter a section and then send it to the editor for him to annotate the file while I'm lettering the next section.
All in all, we're looking to have these to the printer by April 7th so they are in our hands and beginning to ship before April is out. We'll let you know either way by April 7th, either with a celebratory drink or with a pic of me sitting in front of a computer screen sweating profusely.
But there's still an important step for you. Since we're this close to the finish that means you need to make sure you've completed your survey from BackerKit. If you haven't, you can go to BackerKit and retrieve it (or check your junk mail as the many emails might be in there).
We're excited to get this wrapped up and out to you.

Release Update

Hi All,
Just wanted to issue a quick update regarding our release. My goal is to remain transparent on our timeline. If we are honest with ourselves it's going to be March. I know... I know... I promised February.
If you've backed or have participated other comic campaigns, you understand. But for those that are not familiar with how this works, there are so many steps into making this book perfect for you all we want to ensure we perform those steps correctly and to the best of our abilities. The important thing is, we don't want to rush it. The worst thing we can deliver is 50 pages of amazingness, and around 15 pages that look like our kids wrapped it up (although our kids are very talented!).
The pages are almost done and lettering has started. The other perks are all here waiting for the comic as well. The finish line is near.

Stuff & Stuff & Stuff

Hey All,
We hope you had, or are having, an awesome holiday no matter what you celebrate. We know we are!
We're also wrapping up some artwork. If everything stays on schedule we'll have the artwork done in enough time to get it lettered and ordered before the end of January as planned. Shipping looks to take place first and second weeks of February. If we experience any hiccups in that schedule, which those that make comics know is possible, we'll make sure we keep you updated.
Perks are coming in. We are still waiting on the wooden nickels to come in and we haven't ordered the character post cards yet. But the bookmarks look great, the stickers are cool, and those coins are amazing! We have extras of all three, and might end up with extras of the wooden nickels. So if you want more, send us a message and we'll get you a price.
We are getting a number of questions regarding changing addresses. First of all, what are you all moving at the same time for? On a serious note though, the surveys have not been locked down on BackerKit. You can still update your address, shirt sizes, and other things of that nature. We'll probably lock that down mid-January when we put in our final orders.
If you didn't get a survey at all, make sure that you didn't just back us with no perk level (some of you did at no level or the $1 level). If you are supposed to have a goodie, either in the mail or digital, then you should have a survey from BackerKit. Check your junk folder and message us if still no luck.
For any other questions, we're around and we're working hard. Just send us a note and we'll do our best to get back to you in a timely manner.
